Teams 2012

Royal International - Hickstead Teams of Show Jumping

This year we were able send 3 teams!! After a very wet week I arrived on the day to find theevent was being held on the all weather surface and what a change to the weather HOT!!

With 105 teams declared the competition started promptly at 8am.

The 1st round riders jump 85cm, the 2nd round jump 95cm and the open horses jump 1.05cm and this is straight against the clock. This year the courses seemed very up to height and quite daunting in this arena which is srurrounded by high fence. In fact at the end of the competition there was only 1 team that finished on triple clears!!

Our teams were

Gail Taylor
Mike Bunting
Sophie Saunders

Clair Penflold
Rob Twilley
Ema Verrecchia

Sian Mann
Leianne Baulcombe
Louise Morrison

Although unplaced some good rounds were jumped and everyone had a good day and I hope they got their Hickstead photos!! It was great to have new members as well as old represent the club.

Thank you to all members for taking part.

The Riding Club Dressage Qualifier

Was held at Ardingly on Sunday 22nd July. Due to the weather conditions in the preceding weeks, we had wondered if it would still go ahead. On the day only the 3 surfaced arenas could be used, instead of the 7 grass ones planned, so a real headache for the organisers.

We sent two Novice Teams, and they did us proud, with everyone doing very respectable tests. The Novice team tests were in the Sussex Arena which is nearly 10 mins walk from the lorry park and away from the rest of the action. We had our own warm up area, and though there were a few groups of hikers and dog walkers going past, it was quite peaceful. The weather behaved itself and at times was quite warm.

Our teams of:

Shellie Beattie on Torland
Maria Elliott on Morpheus
Jennifer McElhinney on Rivage des Negres - Jennifer was also 4th individually in her arena
and Helen Thomas on Red Sea Pearl

were 6th

Lynne Pulman on Ninefield Dick Whittington
Christine Keate on Supercilious
Rachel Williams on Nelson
Kim Selby-Lowndes on Brownbread Peach

were 8th.

A pretty good result.

With not a lot of time to practice, Louise Baulch on Charlie competed in the Novice Dressage to Music. They performed a lively routine to a medley of ‘ The Monkees’, and it was really great having a member doing ‘ the Music’. Well done Louise.

The Club also provided 4 helpers, and we would like to thank Steve Townsend our chairman, committee member Loretta Bentley, and members Moya Wooller and Yvonne Russell for giving up their time to help. I would personally like to thank you all for making it a very pleasant day.

Felbridge Show Jumping Qualifier 24th June

We sent 2 senior Novice show jumping teams, 1 style jumping team and a junior individual to the above qualifier.

The teams were:-

Claire Penfold – Slim Jim
Sally Randles – Flying Chloe
Louise Morrison – Indian Warrior
Kayleigh Bridger – Blueland

Polly Lambert – May Rose
Sian Mann – Delfyn Lyn
Helen Thomas – Red Sea Pearl
Glyn Croxton – Lani

Our individual junior Katie Hickling – Dom Pereignon

Our Style team of:

finished a creditable 3rd.  Style jumping is judged on turnout, performance and style!!

The jumping competition is over 2 rounds different heights after the 1st round our 1st team finished on 4f with our 2nd team having mixed fortunes.  After the 2nd round our 1st team finished on a score of 8f just missing out on a placing!!
We had 3 members jumping off for an individual placing they were:

with Kayleigh finishing in 4th place!!

Katie our junior had to jump a very sizeable course with the 2nd round finishing well over a metre!! Perry was not quite his normal self and had the odd pole in each round.

Well done to everyone who jumped and survived the very hectic start to the day!! Thank you to Loretta for being our helper for the day and to everyone who came to support us.

Area 10 Combined Training Team Qualifier

The above competition took place at Felbridge Showground on 22nd April 2012.
Our team consisted of:-

Polly Lambert & May Rose
Louise Morrison & Indian Warrior
Rachel Holt & Noach

We had all weathers throughout the day, including brilliant sunshine, hailstones, rain and thunderstorms. Our brave girls soldiered on after terrible times that saw poor Polly having a 4 hour wait between her dressage and jumping.

The girls did really well and finished 8th out of 13 teams. Louise was 2nd individually in her section.

Thank you to Christine, Ann, Hilary and Jenny for attending and supporting the team.

I hope everyone got dry after the horrendous weather!!
